It's hard getting crit around here, well for the sucky people like myself, atleast. I like the second pic, it should have more contrast though. The first pic, I don't understand, the red-stuff is that a kanji? If so, what does it mean?

Hey hey, mantis. For what it's worth, here are my $0.02 :
first pic: cool idea ... not really sure where you want to go with the finish ... yeah, I know it's acryl, but now it's scanned, isn't it?
The 'plague' looks kinda metallic to me, maybe you want to follow that path? And the red thingy screeeeeams for a nice shadow under it ... but on the other hand, it's an abstract image, so I can probably go f*** myself with my comments
second: not bad ! do lots more (5000+ ... I'm at number 32)
Love,
Loki

Not sure precisely what's going on there, but the spacing of the text on the rim looks like it was kinda squeezed at the end.
I think it would be effective to space the phrases out evenly, then add the red bits on top, as if they've invaded after the fact. The tendrils could then overlap parts of the words, but not so much as to make it unreadable.
The portrait is nice. Are you Canadian?
