??? I'm looking at this picture expecting an illusion to pop out somewhere on the woman and baby... Itlooks like it's gona happen but I dont see anything...
Do you know what I'm talking about? Like the old lady picture that if looked at differently turns into a pretty lady.
heheee I;m gazing at your drawing to find something. Is there a hidden prespective on the woman?
ok I'm talking about this too much. Sweet picture. I'm probably wrong about the illusion. |

I just cant help but post again. I love how that kid is just looking at it. Its hillariouse. I LOVE IT!
Aside from the consept and all the illustration quality is superb. The anatamy on the monster is great. Just him alone in a picture could carry it but adding this scene makes it GREAT!
Smashing!
Delisouse!
Scrumtious!

Very nice Peach. It's a beautiful painting.
The only crit I have, is that the colors seem to saturated for the diffuse lighting, I imagine it would be slightly darker and without any highlites.
Hope that finishes the last %...
Again, beautiful!!

Thanks guys,
Skeez- I think you're right, however, I had turned the color down but didn't keep it because I like the bold color so much. I figure it's an illustration, it's okay.

My God! This is one of the most fantastic things I've ever seen here, and depite what my profile says, I've been here awhile. This is not hyperbole either GP, your work is absolutely amazing.

Wonderful painting. Very gripping atmosphere there. Reminds me of those great illustrations in the old children's storybooks I used to read as a kid.

This is a very accomplished picture. Awesome.
Would you mind describing the technique you used?

*WOW* I first thought of a copy & paste from a canvas of Brueghel, or El Bosco...
That's the kind of style I love. |

i just have to crit -
1)the perspective is not interesting. just a side view and nothing mesterious about it
2)the connection between the charecters to the ground is a bit off. shadows are missing. the same case in the tree on the left.
3) fantastic work. really. very very pretty. i love.

Hey guys, thanks again. I appreciate it.
Boom, I've used some photos in this one. One of myself for the monster. Then I'm just painting over it. Much of it is purely painted.
tayete- You called it, the woman is from Bruegel's 'The Peasant Dance', although much altered. I figure after five years of school, learning how to paint, I have the right to cheat. Sorry if this let's anyone down. I don't see any reason we shouldn't make the best use of the technology were using. I started using photos after seeing Craig Mullin's work. Using photos, 3D AND good painting he's able to move mountains, but only because he didn't limit himself.
topeira- Thanks, I think youre right about the shadows, that's mostly what I wanted to finish. The perspective is dull, yah, that tends to be enough for me, it allows the focus to be on the figures.
PS I'll have a site in a couple months and will post it here. Cheers -GP

This reminds me of some weird scene from Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail.... You know what I mean, the really detailed, but odd looking art style that you just have to laugh at. Neat work, really funny too. |

Great piece, quite an interesting style, it reminds me of fairy-tale storybook illustrations. I think it would be cool if the baby was looking directly at the monster (face) and reaching towards it. Just got back from the grocery store and the lady in the line ahead of me had a baby on her shoulder looking at me curiously and reaching... of course I don't quite look like that monster |
