Here's the piece I mentioned a little while ago.

This is the cover to the upcoming issue of PSM - Playstation Magazine featuring Final Fantasy X! It was drawn by Joe Madureira, and colored/painted by us. If you like it drop them a line at [email protected] and let them know!

I must say, I prefer this to the cutesy FF characters I've seen floating about on the Net lately.... These ones look like they could really kick some booty.

I hate you with a passion.

Great job. This makes me want to rethink everything I've done. Reminds me of how much I need to learn.

Fantastic.

Personally Chapel, I think your stuffs up to that of comic artists currently in the business. Though its definitly good to have Liquid! around, pushes you that much harder, or for others makes them not even attempt to attempt.

Joe Madureira.......he's not a bad artist.......

Hey, thats pimptastic!

The no pencils, no cuts thing rocks my world as well

great expression and shadowing on her face, looks like you took alot of care in it. the only thing that kinda bugs me is her arm thing, doesnt look quite cloth. I really like this style though, is it more or less time consuming then cut coloring?

Looks very different from the ordinary pen and ink from the comics...very painterly. I love it. Almost couldnt tell that was a MAD drawing!!!

Excellent job, Liquid!

I really like the brushstroke feel to this compared to some of your other work (not that any of that is bad ).

My only suggestion would be to darken the delineation surrounding her hand to help it pop from his chest. Also, perhaps his jaw line and where his muscles tie into each other as they disappear into his clothing and behind her head.

My 2 cents. Beautiful as always

Chapel - Wonderful Gully coloring, too.

Cheers!

You RAWK!! Woohoo!!

I definitely prefer this to the annoying cutesy look of the original design. Don't get me wrong--I've been an anime fan for over 20 years, but I never cared for the more extreme E.T. look.

Excellent drawing and coloring.

Yum.

Wow that's excellent!

I really love this style both Joe and yourself have created. (ie: no characteristic joe mad pencil shading) It's great because it also emphasizes the importance of the colouring. Was Joe told to take this approach or was it his own decision to draw differently?

My fav piece I've seen for a while. I love how it mixes both comic elements and painterly elements. Thank you for sharing

Right on.. a beautiful cover for the upcoming issue.. i hope there's a poster PSM has the most awesome covers. I get that magazine not because i own a playstation, just for the art. Just thought i'd mention that.

I can't think of anything wrong with it after the edit now. I like the new blue shadows!

I like this one a lot. It shows a more painterly approach to the coloring that usual and, as a result, looks less plastic than they usually do.

Any hopes of a step-by-step?

By far, or at least in my opinion, your best colouring work to date Just a few weeks back I mentioned, in another thread; how much I would enjoy it if you did something different and how I was supprised programs like painter and even painterly techniques in photoshop weren't being used in the comics. This is definately what I thought you had in mind when you said you were already working on something different. How do you like Painter by the way? Is this something you'd like to do more of? I'm definately hoping it is!

Again, I love it
