This is taken from a review of the new Sony 24" monitor. The guy is probably NOT a graphic artist.
"This monitor has a horizontal viewing size of 19". That is one hell of a big screen. One thing I didn't like about the monitor was that it isn't proportional. Normal screens have a 4:3 ratio (1600x1200, 800x600 resolutions). This monitor does not have that ratio. Although it will support the normal resolutions, it doesn't look right since the screen is wider than normal screens (in proportion to it's height)."

Damn, that thing's bigger than my tv and cost more than my car. Who buys these things?

Hah, wow. My friends dad recently got one of those. I dont know why he needs it, but I guess you have to make your Emacs window as big as possible nowadays. There's about 4 sparc stations in his office... and I walk in there, see that moniter, the sparc stations, and nearly fall to my knees.
I remember it needs a special video card, otherwise the other resolutions are scaled and you get really big and tasty pixels. |

As soon as I get some money I'm gonna get me one of those.
I really believe in Sony monitors. I've been working with them forever - and even had the pleasure of working with one of their early HDVS monitors - that thing was huuuuge and had the best image ever - colors looked so nice.
Right now I've got an older Sony 21" and a Mitsubishi Diamond Plus next to ech other and even though the Mitsubishi is newer, it's color drift's all over the place. Horrible.
But I'm gonna get me that 24" beast - and then I wanna play quake with it

Loki; hmm. Mighty tasty looking monitor. What's this about a non 4:3 ratio? Read the review... but, I must say it's a problem if it's not 4:3 as most desktop resolutions output by vidcards are. Blah, I'm tired... |

oh, what a wonderful keyboard there is in front of that monitor!!! Oddly enough im typing with just the same Logitech right now
and it really rocks with the winamp-compatible [play/stop/aso]-buttons above the [F#]-ones... word out
