Yeah, really nice stuff on your site. Are you an illustration major or design major?

I also agree. Really nice drawings. I also like your site alot. Very clean and since it only has 3 colors, it loads really quickly. But I must also say that, popups that are like 75% of the screen size suck. Might I suggest liquid2k.com? Free hosting, no ads. |

very good stuff you got there... I especially like your illustrations... I was just wondering what type of tool you used for the robot in illustrations (first one) it looks like markers to me. I've always wanted to do coloured pictures and though of trying water colour and markers. If you did use markers... what brand are they?

I'll jump in the pool with everyone else and say, "Great stuff". Particularly like your figure drawings. What was the torso sculpture for?
Welcome and look forward to more! |

I agree, very nice stuff. Have you done any digital illustration?
Definately try find a new host. The site is quite slow. Also, consider putting the pictures in a thumbnail gallery format. It makes things a lot easier for viewers. |

wow, thanks everybody for all the replys...i totally didnt expect that many, wow...
to answer some of the questions:
im not in a major right now...im still in the foundations dept. of my school. ill probably go into industial design or our technology interdisciplinary program.
website stuff-ill definitely look into moving my site over to liquid2k...i really hate all the banners on my site. also im going to add thumbnail pages for each section.
the robots in the illustration section were done with prismacolor markers, 30%, 50%, and 70% cool grey. and then a micron pen for fine lines...for info, check out doug chiang's website, www.dchiang.com, and he has a whole marker tutorial, if you havent seen it already.
the torso sculpture was something i made in high school. its regular pottery clay, that i added wire to after firing, and then painted. ive made several of these, ill try to get a few others up soon
digital illustrations- yes i have done some digital work...im going to get that up soon too
about my pencil tones- those were all done with a regular HB or a black color pencil.
pens- i usually use whatever i can get my hands on...lots of microns or uni-balls. oh yeah, whats a stomph?
well, i think thats about it. thanks for all the feedback and welcoming, im looking forward to being part of the forum

Wheee!
A stomph is a little stick. =)
It looks like paper mass rolled into a stick (which is probably what it is too)
You use it to smudge out pencils or charcoal or whatever, and you get a really nice smooth shading. It works sort of like photoshops blur tool...
gives you this effect www.alienphobia.com/strata/scan2.jpg
(sorry for pimping that sucky ass image, nobody but wes look at it. Nobody y'hear?)
I like it alot, only I like shading like yours better. arr.

Muy Bueno!
You and I take the same approach at drawing robots... in the elemental design-wise way! Ugh! Now I have to go in a different direction :P ...kidding. I'll still have to break your arm though.
Great characters in the masked individual and the various nomadic desert people in the drawings section. I can see you've put many hundreds of quality(fun) hours into drawing people and faces. |
