This is the fastest that I can color.

It took me one day.

I made up the pose, the features, basically, I made up this girl. The first time I made up something. Previously I frequently just reproduced photos by painting.(not paint overs)

I made much observations and multiple cross references to various J-Drama actresses and Hong Kong actresses I found in magazines to create this look. I just had to draw this after watching much J-Drama like GTO, With Love, Friends and Lovers,& Beautiful Life.

Does she look Oriental? Beautiful? Are the colors right? Is the placement of the neck and facial features okay? All feedbacks welcomed.

Thanks for your time.

It is not a cross between Jay Leno and Crawford. She doesn't have a chin as big as Leno does she?*shudders*

My friends lamented that I am not good at drawing Oriental faces. They always say that my characters are too Caucassian looking. Maybe it's because I always practise with Caucassian subjects more.

I think people tend to think that Orientals have 'slit eyes'(is this term correct?) like Kelly Hu and Lucy Liu.
Flatter noses and yellowish skin. That's not entirely true.

The actress in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon ; named Zhang Zhiyi , does not have eyes like that of Lucy Liu. Some Japanese and other Asian people have very nice skin complexion.

That's why I gave her a slightly 'higher' nose( I don't know how to describe facial features. Pathethic. Yes I know)But, I did try to make her eyes like that of the Japanese actresses I see on TV.

Thanks guys for the feedback. Anybody else?

I love the drawing, looks really cool. The hair looks quite nice.
I actually don't see a problem in the chin, maybe just a little to large.
Only problem I see is the shape of her eyes.
I would make them more asian; pull up the outer side of the eyes.

I'd like to see the final result

The two types of Asian eyes that I perceive. The top eye on the board nearest to Dr.Borgsenvitch is the type of eye used for the drawing in this post. But the eye on the bottom which I call it 'slit-eye', is the one most popular in movies. The top eye type can be found more in Japanese dramas and is bigger. The common feature of the slit-eye is that it has no double eye lid and smaller. The other eye has double eye-lid.

I would try to make a 2nd varied picture of this artwork with slit-eyes and compare how it looks.

Thanks.

hey. I think the reason her jaw looks so big is because of the way you shaded it. (it is, however, kinda big =)

I like your charictures (bah, spelling)

You had a knack with clothing and with hair and facial expressions.
