Oh, yeah. I forgot to mention that it was
inspired by Blackscarab's elf-picture.

I love the palette on this micke. Great choices. The skin tones are awesome and I love the shadow across him. Just one little thing that kinda (but not really) bothers me.. the light is so strong across his face it appears to be sun light. |

And that I theek ees tha problemo mon! Too hot!
Is too bright an environment for a vampire. Almost looks like he's standing under sunlight. Takin in some rays baby. Workin in dat tan.
Which is baaad pookie.

Looks great micke. May want to add fangs for those who still don't get the subtle hints that it's a vampire. Also, the cape, red thing, is a bit confusing. I can't figure out how it's attached to it. Anyway, stunning piece of work. |

really like the dramatic light set on the face , mike. maybe you could wash out the red in the bottom left corner as it attract the eyes there for nothing. maybe more shadows projected by the cape (same corner ) and use the backlight you used on the face to give more definition to the chest ? my 2 cents. |

he looks very healthy for an undead..
maybe if he was a bit slimmer and he would be lit by a paler (artificial) light or candlelight it would look more vampireish
but don't stake me for it, I still like it |

Great use of lighting and I really like the boldness of the piece it makes it look very solid.
Can't say much more than that. |

A valid foe for Buffy;-)
Nice shadow, from either a pillar or a dude with a very big..c**k? The hungry vampire would probably prefer the latter. Kidding. Excellent piece, can`t "find 5 flaws" on this one.

I like really the picture, but you asked for critique and I though I saw little something in the picture, so here it comes..
His hair doesn't look like it's going round his head.. whether it's outta perspective or it's done in purpose (and he's using a LOT of hairgel ). The ear is undefined or faded. It needs more depth, as does the neck. The shadows are a bit too hard on several places, fe. under his chin, on the chest and the robe. His chinbeard a bit out of line, too. And it looks like he's wearing a mask (too big difference between the forehead and the face ie. the forehead is too dark).

Nice job micke, heh its kinda weird to see Micke actually getting a "real critique". Bg made a few good points. Most people just let the fact that the name micke or joachim or spooge etc. they forget to look for things that could be wrong. Hey, im guilty of that too. well, anyway, really nice job, maybe some others should continue this thread with their own vampires..
Micke, you ever thinking about turning this into another tutorial for your site? |

Well its a nice painting but doesnt make me think of a vampire.
He looks more like a sweedish dude in costume.
too many reasons it doesnt really say "vampire" but I think his shoulders are too small -- too weak looking.
Also he lacks any real facial expression. And the perspective is a bit boring. In a pic like this I think the large shadow could be broken up a bit t make it more interesting.
Still its a nice painting.

Frost - that's truly disturbing... In this case a VERY good thing!
PS: Thought I had already commented on Mickes' piece.. D'oh. Micke, really great piece. I really like his skin tones, and that shadow across his body is awesome!

Since when did vampires have pointy ears? Anyway, vampire anatomy aside that's a great pic, love the lighting and tones. You've inspired me to try drawin my interpretation of how a vampire should look. Frost - that's cool too, more the feral kind of vampire, compared to Micke's sophisticated version.
