I'm reposting this since it was like the last thread to be posted when the forum went down. I colored and kinda "digital inked" this Joe Madureira sketch.

Eeep, Chapel, you're really getting good!

I'm no expert, but I like this. And since I do, I'll comment though I have no real knowledge about comic colouring (or inking for that matter - I know even less about that)

I really liked what you did with her lasso, and her hair looks /sweet/... I'm not quite as fond of the yellow thingies flaring out right above her head, it almost looks like they have little, if anything, to do with the small light bursts further down.

Thanks for the comment Enayla. Those little spark things were there, so I colored them. There were some on her boo... err breasts also, but I removed them. I don't like to change the original lineart too much though, because if I do this professionally I won't be able to do that.

Thanks Cuddly.

I've been coloring MaD pics for awhile. I'd color someone else's if I could find some high quality pro stuff.

Dives, I only count two people that have colored Mad! art in the last month...Chapel and myself. Chapel does it on a regular basis; I did it as a fun get away from normal drawing/painting/3D modeling. I haven't seen anybody else coloring Mad! art here...it's all in your head. There're plenty of people that color other lineart though, so maybe that's what you're thinking about

[EDIT] Just restating that I like what you did here with WW, Chapel. Looks great! Hopefully this means we'll have another pro colorist in the forums soon.

great job as usual chap. Even better than most colorist I've seen. Top notch!

The lighting is the best part of the image.

Chapel..very nice looking I agree you are getting good at this. Anyways just to be picky her lasso isnt glowing all the way around to her waist. The glow is a little odd to. If it where me coloring I would do the same glow but maybe some high light glows alos..sparkely looking glows coming off the lasso..just so it doesnt look so obviously airbrushed...anyways good work you going to color the new mad page that's up there?

I'm probably not going to color that BC page they posted. I want to get some sequentials from someone else. If they post 3 or 4 pages that go together though I might reconsider.

Hey Chapel, Mad! Rocks ... I did this right before the old forum split, I'm not as good as you, but could you point out some things wrong? Sorry to barge in on your posts, but someone will flip shiz0t if I post it again in the new gallery section.

Akolyte: I really don't like to give coloring critiques, because I am still learning myself. I'm sure the forum won't mind if you make a new post to get critiques.

great colouring, chapel. but see if you can add some kind of content in the background. so its not just a gradient. then the pic would be excellent.. since you did such a good colouring job, it deserves a background of the same standards!

Nice, if you want to hang out with a few comic colorists check out http://www.comiccolors.com
Laura Depuy hangs out there and she is a colorist goddess, one of the best if not the best colorist in the comic biz.

Does anyone know where to get some non mad lineart. I have never liked mad's stuff that much, and would like to color something other than his work.

You're starting to get good Chapel. I still think your lighting is a little 'weak' sometimes - meaning not enough contrast in the values - but you're definitely getting there and your choice of color is good. You're not far from a pro level man You can start sendind that portfolio!

BTW I have some b&w images if you want to try something different...

I'll take a look at them, but I can't promise anything. I want to work on some sequentials. I need to get my portfolio done by March.

bld...?

Are you Blond?

Laura is good.

The abundance of Mad work is because of Joemadereira.com.

I know of a few art samples at. http://www.geocities.com/shadowninja_x/
and comiccolors.com has some samples too.
