Fucking A man, what is it with this place lately? People are leaving here faster than rats from a sinking barge. What a silly, meaningless thing to do! Firstly, you're giving up. You're abandoning something that you probably cared about, instead of trying to make it better. I understand that a lot of people feel they've tried and failed, but still- never say die. Secondly, what happens if and when things get better? You come back, start posting again, and look pretty stupid. Or you don't come back, and miss out on the coolest art and people around. You don't like the way it's been here lately? Then take a break. Write a novel. Learn the piano. Go outside. Or try to make a change. Instead of complaining, add something positive to the forums. Don't just sit in the shadows and cry- post art! Critique those who need the help! For example, Chapel: I love ya man, but if you hadn't told us you were leaving I would've assumed you were already gone. There are tons of people out there who could've used your help. And now they'll never get it because "this place has changed." Well, I don't know where you're all headed, because this place is one-of-a-kind. It was the best before, and it's still the best now.

The other big problem around here is RESPECT. Or rather, the lack thereof. I mean, we're all here for the same fucking reason: We like to create. We have different methods, different styles, different themes, different media, and different motivations, but we all like to make pictures and show them here. That similarity alone should be the basis for mutual respect. So treat each other as you'd like to be treated. Critique somebody who hasn't gotten a response, even if you don't think you can help that much. Constructively criticize- point out the strong points in somebody's work and then suggest areas that need improvement. And don't be fucking rude. If you want to insult somebody, then get the fuck outta here. You're not wanted.

Come on, people! These forums are about getting together and sharing what we love to do. It's about getting help, giving advice, chatting with friends, and, yes, showing off. We've fallen on hard times but we can make it better again! Even better than before. All it takes is a little interest, compassion, and effort on all our parts. And a healthy sense of humor- let's not take ourselves too. If we all do our parts, instead of turning our backs and looking the other way, we can make this place as great as it deserves to be. And if not... well, what's the harm in trying?

I think RESPECT is one of the things that made the forum suck in a way.

There are certain artists here(professionals) who hardly ever post critiques of peoples work or offer advice and yet expect to suck up massive praise everytime they post some mediocre piece of work. I'll not name names (lol! because I might be in the list) but suffice to say that people, especially newbies look up to the more competant members and become dissilussioned when the praise they give to other artists is not returned when they have been percieved to have made progress in their own painting skills.

P.S. Ceenda- When spooge demon gives stneill777 honest critiques and advice, I think it's a step in the right direction. But you have a valid point. That's why everybody needs to help.
