I'm still trying to get things down with my line art, etc.. anyhow, our project due in 2.5 weeks is to have a castle on a mountain/hill which is an old castle but with some new technology thrown in, also with this it has to have 2 characters and a vehicle. Still working on the characters and vehicle.
Anyhow, any crits on this castle would be greatly appreciated, as you can see, my line work I guess can use some help. Thanks!
Anyhow, the idea is the two characters I create have crash landed their space craft into this castle and have decided to live there, that is their escape hatch there below.

I think with the viewpoint you picked it would be difficult to make recognizable characters, unless they were on hover boards/bikes up in the foreground perhaps?
also, I think you need to work on the relationship between the castle and the ship, to me it looks like the ship (I keep wanting to say blimp :/ ) is BEHIND the castle, maybe add some damage to the castle itself. That's a tiny island, where are they going to crash that big ship? hehe
oh yeah, one more thing. How do the inhabatants leave the castle? no drawbridge?

Well, actually the two characters will be on a seperate page something like a character sheet and another page for the vehicle. I liked the isolationism thing that these characters were going for, so they get in and out of the little opening below the castle. Thats kinda like their garage door.
Was just wondering if I was on the right track art wise, I'm always super critical of my own work, do I just need alot of work on my line art? |

Jesusclone, or anyone else for that matter, I took a look at your site, wondered how can I make my line art this clean and clear? Here's your shroom pic, I'd love to be able to make my line art this clean and clear, how can I better do that? Pen? Illustrator? Whats the secret.

yip, you got it man, Pen tool in illustrator . I colored in Photoshop though since it's sort of a pain to color things in Illustrator. Though most any vector program has a pen tool (freehand, flash etc). Illustrator is my choice though.
I was curious if that's what program you were using?
Also, one more critique on your pic. Your perspective is a bit off. Don't forget about your vanishing points

Well, what I did initially was just scan in my line art and tried cleaning it up a bit in photoshop. I haven't played with illustrator that much. Looks nice and clean though. I'll go ahead and fix some of that stuff perspective wise and see if I can play around a bit with it in illustrator some. |
