One thought brought up by the manifesto that I find exciting, but scary as well:
"Beyond gender, beyond ethics, you are free to indulge any fantasy."

If we all lived in this cyber realm already, this would not be a problem, since your actions would not leave the confines of the cyberworld into the "physical world". But we are not there yet; we are in a state of transition between the two. And while the cyberworld may not be constrained by ethics and morals, the "real" (physical) world is.

So what will happen to the children who are raised in the cyber-realm, but also have to deal with the real world?
Some people say that the recent school shootings are the first signs of the blurring between virtual reality and actual reality. I disagree; Doom does not simulate real life enough to act as an efficient catalyst (unless possibly the individual is already mentally unstable). But what happens when the virtual becomes as real as reality? When you can "rape Isis, Madonna, Donna Haraway" or take pleasure in "killing your lover at the moment of orgasm" and not be able to distinguish it from reality? This will presumably happen before we make it to the utopia the advocates of this manifesto talk about. The author fails to take into account stage B, between A and C. It is unlikely that the transition will be fast, smooth and pleasent. It never is. I just fear, that the problems the transition causes may be enough to prevent the end result from occuring.

Or maybe I'm just reading too much into this...

EDIT: And yes, I do realize it is a spoof. But nevertheless, it raises some interesting questions.

the whole cyber thing is bullshit that will not happen in any way in a LONG time..

..but i'd like to see you deny the existence of a issue called technogeekmonkism. my generation and younger people these days, more and more of them practically live in symbiosis with their computers, the internet, entertainment etc. it's sad. but it's also unavoidable. the next generation of children will be even worse off since their fathers and mothers will be us (the people who spend their ages 10-20 [and perhaps beyond] with their online friends and the net) and we don't have this whole alien and suspicious mindset towards computers like our parents have (45-50+ old) and thus we won't limit them, or at least most likely will not limit them in any way, in fact we will be with the whole computer thing ourselves.. give it 20 years and there won't be a human race anymore but a fucking geekrace.

Well, since the average geek gets laid once in a blue moon, the technogeek offspring you speak of will be few and far between.
Slow evolution process indeed.

that stuff is bullshit...

anyways, Faust, the thing about future kids being even more fucked up than we are nowadays. Personally I will make sure my kids won't be glued to the screen 24/7, and I know plenty other people who think the same. Muhahaha, can't wait to have kids and make them into real mean motherfuckers [another ten years at least]...

anyways, most geeks don't get laid, the ones that do get laid aren't real geeks. I use my computer a lot, go to some Lan's, yaddayadda, but right now get laid like every day, since I am not one of those geeks that stay inside all the time. I am a favourite with all the ladies. Maybe that's because I look so good/fucked up and can drink twice as much as everybody else that I know, or maybe it's just because I am cool or whateva

ah shit, this post should have been done like 30 minutes ago. But no!, my gf had to come in and demand some sweet lovin...

anyyways, so I was saying, that you all suck, especially FaustGFX... queer lil fag boy. But that's OK, homosexuality is a common practice these days.

i'm sick to death like I've never been sick befooooooooooooooore - great song

yeah, sorry for rambling, but I needed some place just to like let loose or somethin..

I think I fall under the category of "sad mother fucker who spends too much god damn time in cyberland and doesn't raist his head and look out at the real world enough." Yes the lines are defintetly blurring. I had quite an embarrassing ordeal recently that sure goes to show...christ. I'll be hanging from my lamp fixture if you need me. =(

KrassOtti...that was the biggest load of bullshit I have ever heard anyone....anyone! ever spew!

>>I use my computer a lot, go to some Lan's, >>yaddayadda, but right now get laid like >>every day, since I am not one of those >>geeks that stay inside all the time. I am >>a favourite with all the ladies. Maybe >>that's because I look so good/fucked up >>and can drink twice as much as everybody >>else that I know, or maybe it's just >>because I am cool or whateva

Anybody who has to brag about their supposed coolness on the internet is more than likely the epitome of the geek. Just reading the shit you wrote makes me laugh my head off.

immi: lol... I'm no FaustGFX who needs to boost his ego constantly by posting a billion pictures of himself.. etc.. [still love you though Faust :P]. Of course, what I wrote was mostly bullshit. Glad it amused you. Seriously though, ligthen up a little. I was bored and wrote some stupid bullshit in random musings. What's so wrong with that? Actually I first wanted to write on topic but then I forgot what to write, so bullshit came out. Doesn't my last line indicate that I wasn't like totally serious?

My gawd... some of you guys here are way too sensitive/serious.

faust: dude, fagotti krassotti was at least funny. Had me lol'ing, but now for some odd raeson you have to resort to uninspired name calling. Ain't cool, pal :P

Sure seems like you have a lot of work I do like nothing all day except go to classes, eat and sleep and other recreational stuff and have like no time at all to post a lot of stuff. Didn't you just celebrate your 3000th post and you arelady got 120 more?

insane...
