hi,

Since it's my first post here a general hello to everyone. I work for soft/hardware dealer in The Netherlands. The company does not do any production worth noting. I'd like to though. Enough about me.

(oct. '01)

I made this one trying to capture the very bright desert-lighting. Put in the (simple) jeeps model for scale. The image is fully rendered, though I may have replaced the background with a gradient in Photoshop afterwards.

Fire away.

Wolfy.

Very nice. The ground looks a little too flat though. Maybe you should add a little more randomness to the texture. Otherwise, looks great!

WOw, awesome job in rendering here (rock thing). I don't even want to begin to ask how you did it and what render engine you used and program and...well, that thing is very convincing, I thought it was a photograph for a second and if you wouldnt had added the jeep, I would have argued it was...

Peace

Hey, that looks great! Nice rendering. I like the way you have got the light and shadows, and the dark spot under the rock. Is it a "brazil-render" or something? Tell us a little more about how you did this?

Kantide - The sand is a little bleached out. There is details, but it just doesn't show... A lighting problem.

Markus - It's indeed a rendering from Brazil, though Vray (www.chaoticdimension.com) or FinalRender (www.cebas.com) could be used just as well.
There's just 1 light in the scene, the sun. The rest is lit by bounced light. Takes quite a while to render though.

The geometry is a simple (polygon) plane with extruded faces for the rock. The detail comes from a displacement map entirely. As it's basically one object, I made several Alpha maps to be able to use different bump and displacement maps.
The texture are simple bitmaps.

Thanks all for your kind words.

Any request BTW?

Wolfy

And... feel free to ask about 3ds max. Perhaps I can help... (been with max since ver. 1)
