a pinting from a photo of my gf. unfinished of course. i don't have the photo to show cause my scanner is ph*cked up. anyhow, crits are welcome, though they prolly won't be easy without the photo lol.

Te face looks a little flat. It is quit obviously done using a photo.
The light source is from the front (camera flash) The highlights are quite intense...epecially on the cat. The only thing you'd have to add to make it look just like a family-album photo would be the retina reflection
The hair looks a little bunched togeather. I suggest that next time you take some extra time and thought fixing the light to work in a more dynamic way before taking the picture. Otherwise, use any picture and imagine a different lightsource. |

hehe, I agree man, if I had taken the photo the pic would prolly have come out a lot better, but I only have one pic of her  |

This is not bad though. I agree with nova, perhaps you could imagine some other light source not so direct forward and intense. As a painting in general I think it is off to a pretty good start except one thing that stands out to me...the nose. I think it needs re-done. |
