Well i got really ticked that everyone's scanner was workin so i went and got mine working. So here is one of my fav sketches(also my most recent)
Kian Sketch 01
Well its one of my chars i made in my mind. As you can see(or not) i'm not in any art school, infact i'm only 14. Well i wanna know what i should do next with this. I got photoshop 5.5 and as for art programs(besides paint) thats it. I also wanna know what you think, its hard to get honest opinions out of ppl around me , for 1 they know me, 2 their not artist so they usually just say "better than i can do" so be honest when you critisize my drawing. Thats all for now----Bye Bye

well, it doesn't really look anime to me. I wouldn't have known thats what you were trying for simply because there is wayyy too much involvement in the lines shading wise. Normally I think they use 1 to 2 colors for that I think and in black and white I'd imagine a couple greys at most. shrugglies. just tryin to help out. think 'posterize' i guess.

his arms appear to be breaking and he has a tiny hardon.

well i went with more shading than normal anime cause its not moving, sure i could i have not done the super shade job, but its a still pic so no reason to hold back. I also over shaded to get a dark feel(i think atleast that was accomplished) as for the arms i'm not quite sure what you mean..maybe he elbow on the write side looks like bone breaking thru? Thanks for the post, you given me something to think about if i continue altering this pic or in future sketches. Oh and i have seen some of your other posts, ty for tring to be a lil serious. BTW funny pics man.

Dude. I like it.

The one problem is, as SYNJ pointed out, it doesn't really classify as anime. But "anime" is really just a word for Japanese cartoons, so even if you emulated that look perfectly, it might not count -- unless you're Japanese, of course, in which case ANY work you do is anime by definition... But never mind, heh heh!

The fun here come from some sense of crucified alien-ness. Violence is high on my list of "cool art stuff" (are his eyes bleeding, or are those tattoos?), though this was probably not what you meant. I dunno; there's something deliciously sacreligious to it.

You might like conclave obscurum a bit -- this and that share the same genre, IMO. (Warning! Heavy download!)

I can see the anime influence but it really doesn't look like anime. Maybe a little bit.. I can't draw anime and I don't even want to because I'm not too fond of it. It's cute and all that but it doesn't really allow much space for your own creativity, atleats when comes to drawing faces.

The palms look too big (I know one style of anime is draw big hands but I never liekd it much *heh*) and the nose doesn't look too much like a typical anime nose.

I like the eyes, though. Completely black eyes look always good *heh*

ty for the comments. Well i know i went i little different than most anime but I don't like coping a style, i try to change it to suit my purpose. I may like anime, but hey doesn't mean i have to draw exact anime. I put anime style because i have anime influence when drawing it. Yes the eyes are bleeding. I wanna finish this on photoshop but i am not sure how to go about it. I made this pic as a sketch.. not to alter on the pc. Thnx alot for the comments

If you're going for a dark feel to the picture, then you might want to forego the oversized head and stubby arms that are so typical of basic anime.

well i have decided to drop the idea of attempting to finish this pic in ps, i'm way too lazy for the small lines i made and it will remain in its sketch form. I would realy like if someone did a speed paint on it so i can see how you would have gone about coloring it, but if you don't want to don't bother.

You don't need to worry about the small lines if you use layers. Choose Layer --> New --> Layer and then multiply. This way you can paint over the lines and they won't disappear
