yo sijun art forum people, this is my first go at something like this, and i must say, i surprised my-self. I'm a country Kid from Mt Hotham Australia so i learnt to use photoshop myself, never heard of these things called tablets, have to check it out. country schools teach you shit all because they still use Microsoft Paint. any ways nuff blabering does anyone want to have a go at showing me how to do hair, or backgrounds? don't critisize this, because I'm a very insecure person.
i just typed the url in, never done any of this before. I think you have to copy and paste it into the toolbar, but you already knew that.

Things not to say when you get pulled over: How long is this going to take? Your wife is expecting me.

To be honest... I reallllly dont think you need to be taught aaaanything! If this is what you get out of experimenting your way around, teaching yourself, then... well My advise... experiment your way around this one as well!!! You seem preeeetty much on the right track! Depth, marked bonestructure and all, reflections... naaah hair shouldn't be any problem that couldn't be solved with a bit of persistence!!!
Good luck! You are definitely on the right track man... in case you haven't noticed!!!

Every one else, copy and paste the url into a new open window. don't just click on it |

worked when i clicked on it, must be magic. the piece looks great, i have a tablet but no way i can achieve something like that at this time. i think the hair will be kinda hard without a tablet, looking at the realistic look of the face.

there's a few problems with this picture, i'll point the ones i see out:
probably the most important problem i see is the eyes. eyes are 1 eye width apart -- yours is about 2. my suggestion? make the eyes bigger and wider. there's also a problem with "lazy eye" on the right eye(her right). unless the picture is like that, but seeing now this is probably a fashion picture, im assuming that she doens't have the lazy eye. and the last comment on the eyes is that both eyes are not looking towards the same direction... one is looking one way and one the another.
next point is the nose. the nose width is the width betweek your eyes(one eye width). and the nose is really screw up looking. and its also off centered. seeing now it doesn't line up with the lip.. bringing me to the next point.
the lip is very strange looking. the average proportion of a lip is from one pupil of the eye to the other pupil.
and one last point. seeing now you used the grid techique to transfer the picture to a bigger space.. i would've thought it would look almost exact from the picture you used.
but other then those points, its a good start, shading is good. |

I agree with Sonique's critique, and would like to suggest something.
if you are doing a head-on picture, try checking the symmetry by copy-paste-horizontal flipping one side over to the other, so you have two copies of the same side, but opposite each other to create a whole face. Try this with both sides, it will help you with correcting things that need to be corrected, and leaving the things that don't
a bit of asymmetry is good, though. no human face is truly, perfectly symmetrical |

Hey thanks to all who commented on this, even the critics, You have to learn from your mistakes, but sometimes you kneed to be told because you just cant see them all. when i zoomed out on the pic, the eyes really hit me, looked like she was stoned.
I'm going to get more involved in this, maybee a few drawing classes would be a good start. I've learnt alot by joining this forum, and with your help i'd like to get better. |
