Hi guys...

I'm having some problems with painting... I started this piece with flat colors and I'm doing my best trying to stay away from the dodge and burn tools. I''ve been using differn't color values for shading.

I was wondering if some of you experts wouldn't mind helping me out with the lighting and contrast... It's like I can almost piture it in my head but I need a little push in the right direction.

I'm trying to stay away from using any dark / black lines that you would find in traditional comic book style colorings

To view the pictures just copy or drag the link to your address bar... it's a geocities thing... sorry.

Thanks,

Shawn

Neither one is showing up... sorry to tell you this man!

Why don't you use the wizard and make a quick page and place your pics there and give us the URL to your page?

To see the pic click the link, click the box where the web address is typed and delete the .jpg. then press enter again and vuala. Nice piece but the arms look kinda frail and scragly. And i think the head is disproportionate. Also, drop the left shoulder back a little it doesnt seem to connect to his body, kinda like its pasted on there.

I was just reading a post below and they suggested renaming the .jpg to .txt and then geocities will allow linking graphics. So you should see the graphics now.

So if you experts can give me some crit's and points on the painting side I'll leave you guys alone and go back into 'lurking' mode ;-)

thanks

Shawn

I like your picture but Im no expert only a newbie. But maybe this
will help you:

In my opinion the left arm is a little bit too long.

You should have created him more muscular (broader shoulders ect.) for he is a superhero.

Lightning: imagine a source of light, where the rays come from and highlight these areas on your character.Imagine your character also in space.Thinking 3d makes the work easier.

But as I mentioned im a new be Ive just posted my first digital pic. If you like to see it, its right here (Topic:Hello I`m newbie)

Better? Worse? More contrast?

I kept it a little lose to play with the light... once I get it down I'll dive into the detail.

Maybe I should quit while I'm behind ;-) hehe...
