this is a super-preliminary rough sketch... and actually, the way its going, i doubt its ever going to be finished because i dont like the way its turning out. the blank area in the upper right is going to be filled in (if i ever finish this) with a shinto shrine on a mountain... supposedly, when i began, the story behind this picture was supposed to be a young buddhist monk who had been expelled from his temple for being violent. he is now leaving the temple and is currently standing next to the "komae inu" (shrine guardian) dog statue under a blossoming cherry tree, rather suspiciously facing the new life that awaits him below the sacred mountain. >_O that statue really looks like crap right now, it will look much much better painted... but depending on what kind of feedback i get on this, i might not ever be painting it. ::sigh:: anyway... um, please tell me what you think...

oh, and just as a drop of clarification, not that it matters much, im a girl, just FYI because a lot of people seem to be mistaking me for a guy.

i like his arms and hands. and also the statue is cute (cute may or may not be the right word). but i dunno, something's off about his head/neck..just looks feminine. and angry. i like the story though...

Head is too small/round. Makes the neck seem very long.
