wow, that's really looking good. Only thing I can see is that the crotch of her pants is just sort of a flat rectangle there, it doesn't have any creases or work in with the design of the rest of her clothes. I dunno, maybe you were going to address that in painting, but that's really all I can find, it looks nice

Sparks, thanks, man.

Yeah, I didn't add a 'crease' in the crotch, for the reason this will be seen by all ages when published, and I have to downplay the whole crotch area in lighting, when I color it. It's a thin fabric, that 'triangle' of material that is her crotch. Surrounding the thin material (if you can't make it out from this image size) is bordered by thicker/leather strappings. Hell... I'm gonna go crop that area now, on a larger version, and see if you can see what I'm talkin' bout.

CROTCH IN YOUR FACE!!:

...Does it still bug you? Well, like I said... it will be downplayed in color... probably in deep shadow, or sompin'. Thanks again for the sweet comment. I'm glad it's the only thing you could find disturbing, or inconsistent.

I'm sure others will have something to say about that, though. *hint*

I'm probably the only one, but I think you should ditch the "steam punk" look altogether, there is definately a native american feel to it, but that doesnt mean you cant keep the look, I would continue the legging look and instead of long feathers in her hair, long colored sticks with beads or ornaments on the end.
The steam punk stuff makes her look too clumsy to have climbed that rough terrain, but again, Its only my 2 cents worth.

Also, the tattoo or mark on her face looks too much like a mushroom from her last pizza she scarfed..

hey there feeb! Big fan of yours. I have to say that your texture work in your drawings is truly inspiring! I love how this painting is progressing, and I'm gonna keep an eye on this thread to keep up with the pic. Unfortunately, I see no real issues/problems to crit the piece on at this time, but I wanted to comment on it nonetheless. Keep gettin funky with yo bad self

I think possibly you should put something on the left leg.
It just looks too bare in comparison to the rest of her, and draws my eye to it. Then there is nothing to see besides a shapely leg!

great work feeb.
I have once crit tho...her right eye, it seems a bit big not much but a bit. Also i would move it closer to her nose. it kinda looks as tho it's on one of the sides of her face instead of the "center" of her face.
Just my oppinion.
Very nice picture.

your work amazes me, i almost feel like i dont have any rights to critique it! one thing i noticed that looks a little off is the size of her head... maybe its just me, since nobody else has commented on it so far but it just seems like its slightly disproportional... a little too large for the rest of her body. but great work, im very impressed! ^_^

Good grief, what a great run of responses... I've never had such a great thread response, and this is even in WIP! I'm teeming with ... um ... super duper happy happy joy joy.

Alright, you've all been so remarkably helpful, that this piece isn't my own anymore... I'll see if I can get everyone's name on the artist credits... haha. Ok, then... here we go...

Finnegan: HAH! Great ego-stroker of a comment! I'll see about getting down with my bad self, but I was raised not to do such things. You go ahead and start getting down with your bad self, and I'll see if I can meet you there in a few.

ScoobyDoo: I was wondering about that leg... I felt the same thing... I guess I was just too lazy, last night, to try to drum up more stuff for her to wear. Thanks for saying it's shapely.

Eric: I'm flattered that you're inspired. I'll make sure to keep updating here... hopefully something by tonight, and tomorrow.. if all goes well ..I'll have someting to post in "Finshed Work."

julez: I did the entire thing in Painter 6... as I did the Chaos Tiefling. I used to vehemently guard the 4x5" wacom tablet as best... because it's perfectly comfortable for me... I still think that size is perfectly suitable, but I'm sold that one I use at work is more comfortable... it's a Wacom Intuos graphics tablet... and it simply rocks. I don't know the exact measurements, but judging from using a piece of paper as reference, it's about a 8x6.5... or thereabouts. I don't claim to be an authority on these things, but I know what I like... and I LOVE this one. Up until now, I've done all of my digital art on a 4x5, and I love the feel of that, too. I will say, that I don't like anything bigger than the one I'm using at work... the more I have to swing my arm, the more awkward it truly becomes. A guy, here, at work, has a tablet that has a bigger drawing area than his monitor... I've tried painting with it, and I absolutely hate it.

Halogenic: Great call on that eye... I've been suffering it, too... I definitely plan to move it to our left a bit... I think it seems too big, from the shadow I've placed there.. something else I'll have to fix. Now that you bring up the size, though, I'll definitely pay close attention to it, after I modify the position... I really appreciate you bringing that up.

KiNgStiNg : Haha...!! ...whu.. what are you talking about?... I'm glad you've read into the 'feeling' she's creating by expression. Makes me happy the re-work on her eyes paid off. Her eyes used to look downright slutty... lemme know if you'd like to see how they looked, and I'll post 'em... she had this look, like, "Mmmm.. oh, baby... I want you so bad.. use me!" Hahah... way too sexual for the Dragon Mag audience.

kidavi: *phew!* I thought that was just me who thought that... I totally agree, of course... it's going to be a pain, but I'm definitely going to resize her head, now that it's been brought up. I totally welcome your crit, too... I scoff at the idea that anyone has 'no rights' to critique mine, or anyone's work... if something is off, anyone can notice it... and thereby everyone is a qualified critic, in my opinion. *steps out to take a gander at kidavi's site* ... HELL YES, you're qualified to critique! Cool stuff you've got going, man! Thanks for taking the time to point that out!

Alright... I'm off to fix those problems, and I'll post her again soon, before moving on to painting, which also starts tonight. I want to make sure she's good an' ready for it (no... not a sexual innuendo). Self crit: I do need to do something about that goo... it's too much... she may be slopping it to herself, but I doubt it would pull from the goop's origin like that. Hmmm....

Please keep 'em coming... I'll check back here, a few times, before the sketch has been fixed, and see if there is anything else someone offers, that I could incorporate.

Hahah, Sparks... I actually read that, and then surfed the net for a good camel photo page, so I could cut and paste a real camel toe, and get a laugh out of you... after searching for something like 20 minutes, I gave up. There are no really good camel toe shots (unless you're looking for dirty pics... which I avoided like mad... cuz I'm doing this piece from work). Glad you caught the vision, tho... haha... hell, I wish I woulda found that pic.

Well, thanks to everyone's continuing crits... here she is, 'finished.' (same thing I wrote last time) We'll see... but I absolutely love how she's looking. Everything that's different from my last post of this image, is from advice of those posting. My god, she looks better. Check her out: Smaller head, redone 'honey-goo', added stuff to her lower leg, resized and re-oriented eye... hell... she's a whole different woman! I'm so damned glad I didn't go ahead and paint her, without these fixes.

hehe, I'd imagine it's VERY hard to find picture of legit camel toes online though I'd suggest ditto.com

As for the eyes... now it looks like it isn't the 400th time she's sucked a... root The look on her face isn't as casual, which is a good thing of course. Really, that closeup by itself fits into an entirely different genre

Just a thought...seeing as it's a difficult to reach spot, a bit of blood on the uncovered knee might help to show this...those rocks aren't smooth after all

btw Mike, have you managed to make it back into paintchat yet?

great work, feeb. I love the way you rendered her sampling the goop Her expression looks like a cross between paranoia and guilty pleasure.

Again, wonderful comments, all.

I've been coloring her, and I can't wait to post my progress... I'll start that new thread soon.

Sparks: Thanks for the link. Yup... she's not the experienced girl her counterpart plays. Her root sucking days are lessened. Hahah.

Speed3D: Duly noted. Blood on knee.... *check!* Nope. I haven't been able to make it back to PaintChat. My only means of gaining internet access, is from work. So here I am, all the time, but the firewall prevents me from such pleasures. *sigh* I'm estimating that I'll be up, and back on the internet, at home, in about a month from now... I'm too busy to hassle with it presently. Once I get some pressing issues out of the way; commission deadlines and the San Diego Comic-Con... I'll put some energy into setting myself up again.

burn0ut: I'm so glad someone mentioned that... I really struggled with the gadgetry on that particular arm... I sweated over it for a long time, trying to create both balance and believability. This makes my efforts worthwhile, that someone noticed.

Justin Kramer: D'oh! That was just the comment I was hoping for, on her expression! I hope you don't mean for me to disregard it... is the comment concerning the first image on this page (in the thread), or the last image in the last page? If it was this page... thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou... if it was the last page... I repeat ... D'oh!

oops, sorry for the confusion. I originally had a comment in there about the head being too big, which you had already fixed, so I deleted it -- that's what I meant for you to disregard. The comment about her expression still stands
