Hey man, don't get too down, it has a good start. What I'd recommend doing is getting the whole picture done in stages. You've gotten too far ahead of yourself. Your face is detailed, and the rest isn't even blocked out. It looks good, But I'd recommend getting the whole color down before going on to the details.

I understand where you're coming from M. I've always had the same problem. Try to work all over. All of the areas of your painting should look the same degree of "finished".

There aren't many artists who can work out from one area like you are trying to do and pull it off. For a little perspective, read "Leaf by Niggle" by Tolkien. It's about a guy who paints a tree one leaf at a time!

how do you manage to know where the correct shadow values are?

Do some of you have a good practice for that?
