Seems like a huge tidal wave of shit has crashed upon the forums recently.
We have so called "artists" passing off overpainted photos as their own original paintings.
The really sad thing is that they are swimming in praise about their "paintings" from all the ignorant drones.
People are like "wow you got a great style" and "wow the edges are so sharp" etc. etc.
Why doesn't the shit slinger correct them and tell them, no no no this is an overpainted and smudged photo??

faustgfx: I seem to remember that quite a while ago it was concluded that his things are not overpaints. Whether that makes them interesting or not is another matter. |

Interesting if you only see (half)naked women on television, perhaps.

Raist: I consider myself experienced in this field, and when somebody rips someone else's art, it's often difficult to say. You can look for style differences, but... beyond that... |

giveintosin is an artist in his own right, even if he does do overpaints.
jesus christ people, it's another form of digital art.
this is like watching stained glass artists telling basket weavers that they aren't artists.
so you do photomanips, or you draw by hand, or you use filters, so FUCKING what.
it's art. plain and simple. is your ego so fragile you need to mock someone for being 'different'?

I think it's time Spitfire said his bit about the existence of 'art'.

Now are you guys talking about painting over someone else work or over a photo? I have friends that have asked me to paint over pictures... kinda a half photo half paint thing.
A my teacher told us that if you're an artist you have every right to have an ego... she also told that our xacto knife does not make a good tip for our paper air planes

Maybe I'm wrong, but the photos he uses are taken by himself.
That's an important point. |

Did I say a message board was reality? No, but nice try!
And yes, move on. And if you can understand that it means stop claiming things that aren't true.
*sigh* This is last time I respond to childish comments or people with the brain capacity of one.

I don't just distribute random titles of pussydom, so unless you're being a pussy, don't worry about it.
ok, as for the actual issue, I haven't seen any overpaintings, but I don't have time to look at everything - but hey there's no real restrictions on posting here, and we can't expect a forum that mainly attracts amateurs right now for it's reputation of attracting professionals to be swimming in genius. you get a reputation and guess who's at your door... the (dun dun dun) mainstream! standing there picking their noses and eager to chat about lens flares.

I may be naive, but I really don't think Fallen does overpaints.
