Hi. Creating a own thread for my sketches, so I don't spam the whole forum. I sketch a lot at the moment. I think it is the only way to improv drawing. So here is the first one. 5 min sketch. based on a painting of Edgar Degas.

more coming soon!

well I would say you need to work on anatomy. I dont know if you are trying to perfect the shape without drawing basic cylinders and cubes.. I would recommend doing that for better proportions.

thanx for the advice. I'm doing just about anything to improve my drawing, and I'm trying to keep a focuse on the anatomy. Have printed much of the loomis project, and are sketching all the time.

Cubes and sylinders....will draw......

In order to see some real changes in progress, you shouldn't be so concerned with constructing the figure first as actually doing some life drawing. If you cannot take a class, I recommend just getting a friend or relative to dress in tight-ish clothing (loose is another GOOD exercise) and get them to hold 30 second to 1 minute poses. Nothing too complicated to get started, but you can fill in later. Draw gestures or *cough i hate that work* croquis of the figure... It will help out greatly with proportion. Also, check out some anatomy books and read up. And no, you cannot take my advice as a invitation to look at pr0n all night...

It looks like you are sketching the outline of the figure. An important skill to learn is to draw the shapes that make up the figure, not just the outline. Figure drawing classes help you to see basic form instead of just drawing the outter edge. Work general to specific, starting with a gesture. This way, you can fix up anything that is misproportioned before you go into detail.

Try doing some (or many) quick, 2 minute gestures.

Here's an example of a couple of long-term figure drawings I did: http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/Forum5/HTML/001425.html
Those started out with the most general of shapes, gradually becoming more specific and detailed.

thanx for the advice guys. I'm peinfully aware of my problem, and I just can't seem to get it right. It's pretty easy just drawing the outline. I will take my time, read some books, and do some quik sketches.

Once again.....thanx for the advices.
