I cant seem to draw my lines clean and smooth no matter how many times i draw it or what rez or what level of zoom i use.. could someone give me some tips on how to refine my lines without using the pen tool or the line tool.. i want to be able to do this without the use of a crutch.

Well, the thing that always seems to work for me is looking at the destination of the line, rather than at the line itself. For example, if I were going to draw the top of a car's bumper, going from left to right, I'd be looking at the rightmost point, not at the cursor or the left point. Other than that, all I can suggest is using a drawing tablet, if you're not using one already, and supporting your wrist as well as you can to avoid shaking. Also, I find that the quicker I draw, the smoother and more confident the lines are....

Not sure how useful this'll be, but I hope it's of some value.

umm...although im not so great with linework myself, you could try doing quick strokes with the brush, the quicker the stroke the smoother the line...but by doing this you might (i do) get alot of dud lines and in turn use lots of ctrl-z's...hehe, hope this helps

the slower you draw the line, the squigglier it will be. it you want to draw curves or straight lines, try doing them quickly.. if it doesnt work the first time, hit Ctrl-Z and try again. you'll get smoother lines that way until you get to a point where youre hand is steady enough to do slower strokes.
