sad but true A. Buttle..."any" indeed.....

At least you had the courage to speak to her Ceenda! The hardest part is out of the way!!!

No offense Andskj, but I think drawing a picture of a couple having dinner as an attachment to Ceenda's first email to her may have the potential to creep her out...

then again, I could be wrong!

Drawing a picture would make it look as if you are trying too hard. Be casual about the situation, don't make it look like your nervously drooling over her (even if you are).

First of all....Yes you are wrong. I'm pretty sure that a drawing would make things much "cuter"..... maybe not a couple having dinner......but something that will express feelings.... I guarate you that doing things a bit untraditionaly will make a difference!

Fuck the picture of dinner idea. Draw her a rose and say "I'm cheap as hell. Blow me."

No, no. Better yet, draw her a picture of a huge horse cock with her name written on it. That's sure to win her over.

I'd say Lunatique's given the *cough* best advice so far, but I'd make one adjustment. Don't say that you've wanted to ask her out for some time; say that you think she's interesting, and were wondering if she'd like to get together some time. Don't talk about how long you've been interested in her until much, much later. It seems strange (even though it isn't) to girls when someone says "I've liked you for a long time" but is only now acting upon those feelings. Also, make sure you are clear that you're asking her out on a date, not just a friendly get-together.

P.S. Playing hard to get isn't just for girls. It's all about the chase. Don't be the hunter, be the prey.

Also, don't send more than two emails. If you get no response, she's either unable to check her mail and there's no point in filling her inbox, or she doesn't really want to talk to you and will think you're a stalker. Actually, she'll think you're a stalker either way. Trust me, I've unfortunately been there.

ALSO, brevity is key. Don't be too chatty, you'll start to ramble and queer the deal. Talking will come later, right now you just need to get a date.

IMHO

Ceenda - relax, slow down, dont worry...

Lunatique - You are probably right.

Bradford - You are probably right, but the 'run away screaming' concerns me (a joke)

PandaX52 - yea, I agree

andskj - Wait for the 2nd date to show the 'art' talent (patience grasshopper)

A.Buttle - The rose part is cool, then everything falls apart after that

sacrelicious - yes, yes, and yes (agree that is)

Ceenda - relax, patience, no rush, lots of time, be cool, no rush, watch, learn listen, 'gettin some' aint worth losin' the good stuff'

As a girl, I'll jave to agree with Lunatique. It sucks so bad when guys aren't honest. Mainly because when I like a guy, I like them for who they are, not because of what they try to be. When they try to be all 'fake confident' or 'macho' or something, it destroys everything.

Don't be imposing, be as relaxed and easygoing as you can. Yea, just relax. We don't bite (at least i don't, do don't know about other girls). Be casual, do the coffee thing, not the dinner thing right away. Send a single, great e-mail. Oh yeah, and BE YOURSELF!!

Hope I helped.. mebbe some thoughts from the other side would do some good

There's this girl that I've really liked for some time now. I've chatted to her quite alot & had wanted to ask her out for some time now. Today I had a lucky chance to chat with her as she was running for her bus. The conversation went something like this:-

TERRIFIED PALE FACED ARTIST: "Um.. hi, are you, erm, going home over the holidays?"
GORGEOUS GIRL: "Heh, no, I'll be around."
TERRIFIED PALE FACED ARTIST: "Well... I kinda wondered whether you fancied meeting up for a ... meal or... something...???"
GORGEOUS GIRL: [look of absolute confusion and possibly terror]
TERRIFIED PALE FACED ARTIST: "Or... is that a... really embarrassing question?"
GORGEOUS GIRL: "Um, yeah... my email is *****@***.com so... give me an email."
TERRIFIED PALE FACED ARTIST: "Cool, cool, erm, see ya around then!"
GORGEOUS GIRL: [literaly runs away... fast. still with glazed expression presumably]

I'm terrified that she's thinking:-
"Why did I give that freak my email???"

I dunno what to write or to say or to invite her to or whether to explain why I like her or what???

Don't worry, man. Sometimes, we read people's expression wrong. There were times in the past when I had assumed someone was not interested in me AT ALL, but later found out they actually were.

Just be yourself. Be confident. Be humorous. Be charming. Email her and just be honest and sincere.

Just tell her that you've wanted to ask her out for some time now, and wanted to know if she's interested in maybe a movie, coffee, or dinner.

Simple.

Girls dig honesty. Just tell her how you feel and ask her out. That's what I do and it usually works, except for that one time when a girl I asked ran away screaming in terror

Oops, sorry. I spent so long taking in all the comments that I forgot to actually reply! Thanks for all the replies, some great advice and comments there.

Well, I sent off a light hearted email(that was checked out by a couple of mates for crap-ness factor) a couple of days ago. Still no reply. Mind you, she said that she wouldn't be able to check her University account and would only get to check the Web based one(i.e. the one she gave me) later. Though, I dunno how long I should wait. In the email I said she could get back to me any time she was free. I'm thinking that wasn't particularly smart. I also gather she's out of town for a bit.

Lunatique: Yeah, it's probably best to keep it light hearted & simple. Cheers.

Bradford: Good advice.

A.Buttle: lol! Indeed.

shahar2k: Heh, read the transcript. Bit late for that now...

andskj: The painting idea is nice one, though I think I'll wait for a bit until a good/appropriate opportunity arises.

PandaX52: Cheers.

sacrilicious: Yeah, a mate of mine said not to appear overly keen.

Dthind: Nice round-up!

Nova: Thanks for the girl's point of view, that helps quite a bit actually. I'm sorry to say I don't often know who's what gender here, so people actually have to tell me!

Any more girl viewpoint advice?

Like I say, I'm really hoping she does get back to me. If not, heck, whatever. Thanks again for the comments & advice, it's just a waiting game at the moment.

can't win every time.

don't expect anything to ever work out and you will have alotta less disappointments during your life since it's all bound to crash and burn and fail anyway no matter what. universal truth.

Ceenda did the girl right back to you? I like happy endings J

Im currently trying to get to know a girl that Ive been interested in for about a year now but never had the courage to really approach her on it until a few months ago. For me, the honesty, straightforwardness (only on some things), and being yourself has helped the two of us progress. What the Sijun group has said (mainly Lunatique, Sacrilecious, and Nova) does in fact work.

Faust Im going to disagree with this. In some cases things in life crash and burn but there are things that stay constant and always will that in and of itself is a universal law.

No, he didn't. He got so utterly utterly fed up of waiting that he decided to give up waiting for her and went off to find other girls more worthy/grateful of his time...
