tee hee, all done.

( Regarding your post... you'll have to be more specific. Even with 7000+ members I imagine there aren't many telepaths posting here... )

The "rating bitches" plague every gallery or forum on the net that uses ratings.

maybe its because of what you draw: Bottles and can opener. Some people might not like it.

heh, it's hard to make me laugh, but you need not care about what people think of you over the internet, more than likely you will never meet them in person.

Just keep on drawing what you feel be necessary to draw, bye

FrustratedARTist: The only problem is the lack of creative criticism.

personally i think the voting system should be scrapped, ive been here for a fare while now and i post plenty of work yet ive only got 7 votes, even those who have been here since this forum started rarely have over 40 votes, its useless.
plus it makes me feel sorry for people with only 1 or 2 stars next to their name. its like putting a label on someones head telling everyone else out there what they are like.

I think the problem is that it's not possible to make any changes once you have rated a member.
At least there's the 'Allow your user rating to be publicly displayed?' option in the profile.

I think its great that you draw ordinary objects. At least you have them close by for reference. I think these artists are used to seeing fantastic representations of myths and lore and the lot so they aren't used to viewing a simple object. Why do they get pissed about it? I have no clue.

When will the world listen to reason?
I have a feeling it'll be a long time.

Thanks for your replies!
I thought that maybe I was dragging down the speed painting thread. But there are no such complaints.
I'll just keep drawing ordinary objects. I'll post just the more interesting ones, though.

You were the one who gave me the link to that perspective book, right? You're an ok guy in my opinion, then.

Even drawings of boring things can look cool when you give them the right perspective, line weights, shading, etc. Keep doin' whatcha doin'.

And I think there's been some assholes going around giving people bad ratings for no reason. I've seen it a couple times now. Don't get your underwear all in a bunch about it.

Right, that was me. Glad it was what you were looking for.

It's just that I wonder if I messed up somehow. 11 votes are a lot of votes here.

The voting thing is just a default feature of the software but you can (and probably should) turn it off in your profile configuration. The stars don't mean anything.

AndyT: There's a general preference on these forums for "art", and I guess that drawing "nearby items" is more of a private exercise than what would generally be considered art. It's a fantastic exercise and certainly well worth keeping up, but you might want to save up your posting rations for when your reach the next level.

As a fan of lithius611's nearby items I'm tempted to disagree, but I figure that's not how you ment it.
I was hoping to get some pointers on how to improve. Guess I should have asked for severe criticism on a different board

"asked for severe criticism.."

I assume you meant "critiques", because you did get severe criticism here.

But you're still at that stage where critiquing doesn't work. Only practice, practice, practice is worth anything to you at this point, until you start to develop a sense of 'artistic re-creation' rather than doing 2D outlines. It will come with practice and that's around when critiquing will be worth something.
