Jason, Ugolino is my favorite sculpture too.
I only saw the plaster at the Museum of Orsay in Paris. I was very, very impressed, it's nearly a physical experience to be near a piece like that, it's impossible to understand with any picture.

I second those pics of Michelangelo's Roman Pieta and David. He's got my vote as the best sculptor since the Renaissance and one of the worst painters.

You know that there is no real suplement when it comes to sculpture then the real thing. You have to occupy the same space. Here is mine, it is a poor shot from my trip to Italy. It was amazing I stood a foot or two shorter then it when I was there, I was about 16-17. I could almost feel the strike from hammer he through at it because it was not perfect. (from what I can remember of my Art history) You can see it barely on his knee.

The Ectasy of St. Teresa.

Bernini rules.

My pick is actually The Pieta, but it's taken....

Someone already posted Michaelangelo's Vatican pieta, which is my favorite. But this one is my second favorite, Loacoon (I guess the spelling varies):

This was carved in the first or second century B.C. It was hundreds of years before it's time. Look at the tension, and the weight that the serpets have, like massive cords wrapped around the three figures.
