Hello

I was wondering, which of the wacom tablets are best? Is the Graphire 2 ok? Or do you recommend the Intuos 2?

I'll use it for coloring, 'painting', like most artists do here on this forum..

I mean, does the graphire 2 do for a start? Even tho it's small.. The intuos was fairly expensive I think..

hehe, right on the heels of the mac vs pc question. i was wondering when this one would pop up. the answer is that there really isnt an answer. how do you draw? with big strokes on big paper? get a big pad. do you normally do tiny doodles? get a small one. the difference between the intuos and the graphires are mainly different levels of pressure sensitivity. but for most uses, the graphire is more than adequate. i think the graphire is a great value. i personally use the 6x8 intuos, and wouldnt trade it for the world, but that's a $250 difference above the graphire. if you arent sure, go with the graphire and have fun with it. you can always get a bigger pad in the future. but this is a personal preference question, and i assure you that you wont recieve two answers the same to this question.

im considering getting a wacom this month or so... to ditch my kinda generic tablet.

i wanted to know about the differences in 512 to 1024 levels of pressure, does it get noticed in a stroke in ps?

Hehe, sorry, couldn't resist. I'll just state my personal preference here. I use a 4x5 intuos at home/dorm, but in the mac lab at school I use their 6x8 intuos and I honestly have to prefer the 6x8. But I think anything bigger would be rather awkward. And I don't completely put the 8x6 to full use since I'm more use to my 4x5, but I could adapt given more time with it. And I have felt limited at times by my 4x5. Still, just as sporq said, it comes down to personal preference. Just like I prefer drawing on huge pads with my charcoal while I see a lot of other students using much smaller pads.
