such charmers. Still its no surprise.
We've got a bit of a rukus brewing down here too. A new catholic archdiosice was elected and he's a moderate who beleives in giveng gays communion and allowing women into the preisthood. naturally other curches and regional archbishops of all descriptions have been kicking up a stink; re stating their "lake of fire" opposition to homosexuality.
Frankly I think it's all so nineties.
Let them have their fun burning this or that. Then when that doesn't work and they get nastier we all line up and smack them(literally or figureatively; depending on what's needed) until they learn a little civility.

Oh my god that is soooo lame. Looks like some people like digging up excuses to start their own private wars. Damn wannabe-fascists.

Why is it their concern anyway?

As you may or may not know, a new, female president was recently elected here in Finland. This has, it seems, angered people, not so much in Finland, but in Westboro, USA. The people at the Westorough baptist church seem to believe our new president is a lesbian (Probably because she was president of SETA, the finnish gay rights association for two years. That doesn't mean she's gay, though, hell, it seems she may get married soon. With a man.), and believe we are a doomed nation. So, in may, they're going to organize a demostration in our capital, Helsinki, which is to end with the burning of the Finnish flag, said to symbolize the burning of a nation that has chosen sin, as happened in Sodoma and Gomorra.

I am, simply, speechless.

Oh, here's what their site (The infamous godhatesfags.com) has to say about it:

"WBC to picket Finlands dyke president in Helsinki
Yesterday, Feb. 6, Finland elected a dyke president -- Tarja Halonen -- thereby blaspheming God and inviting His wrath as with ancient Sodom. Gen. 19; Jude 7. The Finns who visit WBCs Web site -- godhatesfags.com -- are troubled. WBC has determined to send a missionary team to Helsinki next Summer to preach to those depraved sinners in religious protest and warning, with Gospel singing and signs: GOD HATES FAGS, FAGS DOOM NATIONS, AIDS CURES FAGS, FAGS DIE GOD LAUGHS, FAGS BURN IN HELL, etc. REPENT!
WBC will burn Finlands flag in Helsinki, as we did Canadas flag last Aug. 2
After Canadas Sup. Ct. endorsed same-sex marriage, WBC demonstrated and burned the Maple Leaf flag on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. WBC will do the same in Helsinki, burning Finlands filthy fag flag in holy protest there.
If Finland denies visas, WBC will sue Finland in international EC and United Nations courts charging Finland with religious discrimination and persecution. The world will see if Finland fags believe in tolerance and diversity for all.
"

I don't know why I am so suprised... The American religious fanatics are insaine. Not to mention the most stupid people I've ever come across. As I was reading your post, I found myself feeling very sad and angry at the same time along with speachless, although there is so much to be said about this. My jaw just kind of dropped.

Isn't there anything that we can do? They are so ignorant! They are not God. God said something like Thou shalt not judge. He is the only judge. And so they are not only hypocrits, they are also going against the word of thier God themselves. They make me sooo angry.

PLUS, and I am not at all religious just to let everyone know, God does not hate anybody. And DrBoff is right, riots aren't funny or entertaining. People get hurt and even die. And it just brings out how mean and cruel people are.

I find it quite amusing, actually, but then I tend to be a little cynical. Well, amusing until I think of the people they're persecuting. The humour probably wears off after a while for them...

what a crock ...

they really have no right to accuse someone of being gay then going and burning a countries flag... I think if they do, you finnish boys and girls should arrest them, then let the have some nasty ... ... prison sex badness... with some "homosexual" inmates ... Or .. when they get back to the US have some atheists burn down there church and curse the forsaken religon for all its bullshit that it is.

Well, it IS illegal to burn the flag (Except when disposing of a dirty/ otherwise ill-shaped flag), so they might get jailed for a bit. Not for long, though.
I wonder if they know about that?

Hm, in that case, it's a joke that's that has gone misunderstood by just about everyone I knoow and all the newspapers and TV stations I've seen report it... And obviously the golovesfags.com folks too. Best take another look.

Oh, bloody hell. The photos DO look fake. http://www.godhatesfags.com/photos.html
How embarrassing.

On the other hand, if it IS indeed a joke, they've gone to a lot of trouble...

I guess we'l find out in may.
