I'm not angry about this. it's just a little confusing to me. This is a "professional" forum with many "Masters-In-The-Field" amoung its many members, the best place to get constructive critism for the average developing artist...
Yet... I've put three pictures up on "Work In Progress". One got 2 replies (I don't want to sound ungrateful, they were very usful and I am very glad for them) in about a week. Posted another picture which was on a similar vien. No replies. Posted another, in the time it took me to sort out the URL problem someone else had managed to make a post and get 5 replies.
Er... perhaps I'm just moaning right?
Every newbie has this problem I guess... but I'll have a rant about it anyway
(*thinks*... hey, perhaps that's why I don't get any replies)
*Shrugs*
Such is life.

I'm a bit tired of this discussion.
I've posted three pics in the forums and I got about 5 replies in total.
So what?
If I don't get replies it isn't because I'm new, it's due to the fact that my "art" isn't good enough to be commented. If someone feels in the mood of helping he will post. If you want lots of replies you must do something good.
And learning is possible when watching other people's work and crits.

Ragnarok - You have got a point, but yet I don't think that most of the members here post because they want people to say "That's great, keep up the good work" all the time.
I know that I want some Critism (isn't that were the word "Critique" came from anyway?) from Professional Artists on how to improve my work. It's great being polite but sometimes you really have to be a little cruel, come on... there's a difference between saying "This sucks" and "The shading is a little wrong". The latter is helpful, the former is not.

...yeah... but as no-body wants to say anything bad, crits are hard to come by.
Watching other peoples work is great but sometimes you just need "someone experenced in the field"'s opinion. Even if it's just to strengthen your confidence in a certain style.
(Sorry man, I get defensive like this sometimes. Call it a character flaw if you like.)

Well, I went and looked at your posts -- and the problem is, they're a little too simple for criticism. If you expect people to take the time to help you, you gotta show maybe a little more effort than that.
Secondly, you might want to bring up real issues that you have concerns about, to get a dialogue going. Posting a 2 minute sketch with 'comments please' doesn't really get critical juices flowing.
But what do I know. I'm just a junior member. (Check out my registration date, though. I'm probably the 1st user after Dhab to get an account on this forum. I am really old school.) |

just let it be a lesson to you... test the waters and see what gets a response and what doesn't... Somehow I don't think ordering people to look at your posts will work, which is what you are trying to politely do here. just relax, if you need better answers then that kochun is summing it up pretty nicely |

You need to put "I am better than you all" somewhere in your message and you will get plenty of replies. Better yet put "I rule, you suck" in your topic, that will do it.

You can't force people to reply to threads. If anyone wants to reply ,they reply. If they dont reply, well go on with the next picture. Another thing is that threads usually die quite quick, because of the massive amount of posting on this board.

Breasts seem to help. Either in the picture or on the artist.

Okay sorry to poke fun people, but I've got to say this is the funniest thread I've ever read, here let me put it into perspective:
"Some guy posts a message stating that nobody will respond to his posts which creates a barrage of replies which therefore is close to a pardox?, or something of the sort"
Anyway, hahahah, looks like you got some replies....
Er...Wait a sec, I just realized it was about crits and not just replies...nevermind...ahh well time for me to shut up....

this discussion comes up all the time. I'm not going to say its bad, because most have had their own problems with it. Think of this though: we're all relatively new to this forum joining at a rapid rate, and we all want replies. But how many replies do we give? There are so many new members, and giving=getting. If everyone took the time to reply to a few other peoples work instead of just posting, this problem would be solved. If you make a concerted effort to try to help other people, its my opinion that eventually it will come back to you. but he what do i know, i don't get replies either |

Frozen: Listen to Kochum. Kinda difficult to critique when the viewer doesn't know where its going. Work A little more on them. |
