Even though it's been a litle hectic here lately, I just wanted to wish every single one of you a very merry christmas -- Hope you all have fun! (If we all behave here, maybe Dhabih won't have to keep himself drunk during his xmas vacation.)
Here's my last one (I think) for this year. Will be gone for a few days. Bleargh. =)
cheers,
frost.
PS - Oh, and visit 3dpalette.org every day and click on ALL the banners there is, it will make Immi happy. =) |

3dpalette is lame. All it is, is a rip of everything that goes on in these forums. I dunno why so many people indorse it. Even fred holds his tutorials away from eyes to allow immi get hits off it. Why does immi have such close relationships with these artists? Why does immi get first peek at how fred's tutorials are coming along? Why is there a middle man? Why should I click on immi's banners? Why would any sijun member want to goto 3dpalette and read what was posted by spooge the day before?

I can understand what your saying, a little. the sute does more than sijun summaries, its just like any other news site, afterall if it wasnt for 3dpalette i would never have found sijun Forst, i like your santa, especially the tone of the flesh.
Merry xmas

Merry Christmas to you too Frost.
Skullighter: I'm pretty sure Frost meant it as a joke. As much as I'd like to debate the merits of your comments, just from the tone of them, I can see trying would be useless. Just for the record though, I have such "a close relationship with these artists" because I send them huge sums of money monthly so they will be friends with me. Its really a small price to pay since we earn millions off the site... |

yeah, alright. I'm the asshole here. I'm the asshole? is that what's going on? I'm the asshole. I'm just telling it how it is. I'm not trying to bring down your holladay . I just don't understand. I'm just looking to understand.. that's all. No big deal . I'm sure a lot of other people wonder the same thing. So why not just explain? This isn't an agressive thing or an offsensive thing.. I'm just looking for answers to the questions. |

yay, anther anti-3dpalette.org one.
i can second every one of his words.
i was with 3dpalette before it was even public back then. and the time i was with 3dpalette, i can say it was propably my second worst time in my life as a graphics nikka. i regret ever giving them even a bad eye.
[edit, i can second every one of his words except the apology / peace offer bit]

Ok, sorry Frost, but bye bye to your thread.
>>3dpalette is lame. All it is, is a rip of everything that goes on in these forums.
First off, whats up with the negativity man? You say you're just "telling it how it how it is" but seriously, what have I or 3D Palette as a collective done to piss you off? Faust...well, he's been going through what seems like that whole teen angst thing his whole time on the forum, and he's been pissed at us for some obscure reason for before I was even with 3DP, so I can sort of understand where he's coming from. but you? what have we done to deserve the label of lameness?
Perhaps you're pissed because we're making a killing off the site? Well, don't mean to burst the bubble, but what we make barely covers our server ($350 US/month, which is quite a bit since Flasher and I both live in Canada.) Excuse the cliched expression, but we run the site because we love doing it.
>>I dunno why so many people indorse it.
Well, we'll dismiss the remote possiblity that people endorse us because they actually like the site, and get something out of it. I'm guessing they endorse it because like I said previously I send them obscene amounts of cash monthly, and on occasion even give them a bit of immi lovin. Hmm, its probably not that. I just don't know. Why have people from Dreamworks, Disney, Sony Imageworks, Presto, id, Epic, Black Isle (btw, sorry for that, just can't resist the urge to name drop) and so on sent us emails saying how much they like the site? The only real thing I can think of is that they like the site. But...that's just fucking ridiculous!
>>Even fred holds his tutorials away from >>eyes to allow immi get hits off it.
Hmm...I'm not quite sure whether he does. When I approached Ron and asked him whether he could write some stuff up for the site, one of his first questions was whether he could publish the stuff on sijun and at other sites such as anticz. If memory serves correctly, I'm pretty sure I said that was fine. Oh wait, wait, that was before he became my whipping boy, and I told him that I'd severely beat his ass if he did such a thing.
>>Why does immi have such close >>relationships with these artists? Why does >>immi get first peek at how fred's >>tutorials are coming along?
This is strange. I can't explain it myself. I don't know. Its really weird but I've found that even in real life, as opposed to a web based one, when you're nice to people, and you ask them stuff politely, they're usually nice back. Crazy hey? Ok, so enough sarcasm. I don't actually have that close a relationship with that many artists, but I can say that I've made a lot of friends and have met a lot of cool people.
You may be surprised, but perhaps if you tried emailing someone, and saying you'd like them to write an article or tutorial for your site...shock of shocks...they might actually agree!
Ok...so why do i get to see Fred's stuff in progress? Because he agreed to write stuff for the site. Therefore before it goes on the site, I have to html it together. Whee, its fun man! I get to spend a few hours cutting and pasting stuff.
>>Why is there a middle man?
Doesn't have to be. I don't say that anyone writing an article can't publish it elsewhere. Sometimes i'll ask (eg. I asked frost to withhold his santa q3 pic for a couple of days) but its not like they're bound to me. Sure, its nice if 3dp can get the hits, because yes, more hits= more money. But as i mentioned, at this time, more money is basically supporting our server.
Additionally, some people actually like having stuff like Freds or Spooges articles on a site, where it is permanantely and easily accessible. There's a wealth of info on these forums, but if the thread slinks down the list, its for all purposes gone. Do u see what I'm saying here?
>>Why should I click on immi's banners?
God knows. I rarely click on the banners myself. I think Frost was trying to be funny, but hey, he's from Quebec...what can i say? hehe, kidding frost.
>>Why would any sijun member want to goto >>3dpalette and read what was posted by >>spooge the day before?
Hey, valid point. A large chunk of our info does come from the forums. But, from what i hear, one of the biggest problems with the forums is its huge size. Some people don't have the time to search through all the threads. I merely make note of the important stuff. While its arguable that what i think is interesting or important, isn't, I guess that's one of the benefits of running your own website.
Also, not all of our stuff comes from the forums. Using the last few days as an example, only 2 posts are related to the forum, or contain information from the forum. |

why? incredibly cochkeaded "team".
some of the guilty parties aren't around anymore, thank whatever god there is for that. then some are.
[edit, and teen angst my fucking ass, if you'd been even around back then, juniortothething, you'd know what true sad pathetic "anger" is. *cough* acertainnotsowellknownpersoncalledpakrat*couighahckwheeze*]

Ok...i don't actually know what the story is with you, so can you tell it to me? Sort of like a christmasy thing. Instead of saying shit like we're cockheads, tell me what was done to you that cause you to be so mad. Maybe we can have like a big group session where everyone gets out their anger and then we can all have a big group hug. Like on Barney.
Seriously though, can you tell me what happened? |

alot of personal crap with a few individuals.
one rather interesting fight wich was faustgfx vs the people, about whether it's cool to buy your software or not (i was on the "yes it's cool to buy the software" , everyone else was "no"), which raised a few other arguments, which really showed what the *cough* "team" members were like.
then there's pak-rat who went through 3 phases.
1) *nice guy*
2) PLS 2 B NOT LEAVING! IF YOU RESPECT ME YOU ARE NOT LEAVEIAEIEING 3DPALETTE YOU ARE A COOL ARTIST0R AND WE NEED YOU!!!1
3) fuq you motherfuker hagagaaga loser!1 *do what i did for freddio just recently (too bad the thread was closed) except with email and icq.
the ..conversations had during the little arguments with other people really showed what they were like- irritating fuckers like i am now. imagine that.
it's a long time of my life i can never have back to correct the error i made in "joining" that pitiful attempt at creating something cool (which never happened). always having to adjust to what pakrat/flasherpoo said, always changing things, yadda dadda. i escaped to full freedom and laughed a nasty alligator laugh at them.
oh, let's not forget about alot of personal little insults that got to me. i was kinda a decent person back then, which turned out to be a wasted effort as well.

Merry X-Mas Frost, and everyone else!
And Skullighter, many other news sites get their news from various forums as well. It's a source of information.. I dont see why anyone would deny such a source. Also, I dont think every single person that visits 3dpalette.org also visits Sijun.com. I could be wrong, but you never know. Likewise, not every person that visits Sijun.com visits 3DPalette.org
Now then.. lets get on with the Christmas spirit. Be good little boys and girls now.
Santa's watching, remember?

Gah, how can you argue with logic like that? Whats with all this chapel for president and god bullshit? How about Fausgfx for president, god, moderator etc etc. He's just got such a way with words...so, so...eloquent. |
