These are all at least a couple years old. I found some sketchbooks in an ant infested box. Someone said they'd like to see more of my old pencil works so here they are.

whatcha think? I've eliminated some old bad habits since these pics, but they don't disgust me like my old old stuff yet

Sorry about the download. I tried to shave off as much as I could.

I'm blown away Flex. I have not been in this forum for more than 2 weeks, but I defintely look forward too seeing your work the most. My favorite is the last pic. Have you ever drawn comics professionaly?

Let's face it, comedy is a dead art form. Now tragedy, ha ha ha, that's funny!

Wow Spyder, thats a huge compliment considering the gargantuan amount of talent on this board. Thanks much! I hope to someday do comics professionally. I'm going to make my submissions again soon once I nail down some more practice on storytelling. I'm really digging painting in photoshop but my first love is pencilling

Thanks AcidDrone. That second one I doodled in many 1 minute increments (while waiting for my lousy computer to chug away scanning) at work on a big desk board over the span of a week or so. That's why there's a ridiculous amount of cross-hatching in it

Aw Hell ya! Is the first guy a finished version of the hornd guys you were posting a while back. On the second one I think they guy looks a bit to calm. just me The third one is very nice and I know "Skeezer" will like it also, it seems to me that the shotgun in the guys hand represents something ...Flex you raskal..... Where was I...4th I like the look of the penciling on him..and the last one looks allot like me

I love looking at the pencilings of other people. I have been saving a colection of pencils(drawings) my self to post. Just wait. My mad skills will be shown..

Nice pics FE. I'm not sure if you planned on any of these to take the comic book route of getting inked and colored. Since these are old I'm not going to complain, but I think if you want to do more comicstyle you may have to ease off of all the cross-hatching. I would think if anything it would speed you up. That viking pic was hard to color just because the linework was so dominant.

Don't get me wrong... I like all of your stuff. Just thought I'd let you know if you wanted to do comic book art-type penciling.

TheMilkMan - Hehehe... back in the day. Back in the day

Jaymo - Hehe, yeah I've been meaning to pick up on some of my old characters. hehe bump

Blitz - Post 'em post 'em! =]

Ian - She works out!

Chapel - Yeah most of the stuff I've been drawing is really stand-alone stuff. When I know someone's gonna take a crack at coloring something or even when I color it myself I approach my pencilling different. That Viking was meant to be real angled and sketchy. But you did do a helluva job coloring him despite that. My panel-to-panel stuff is a lot lighter on the lines and basically zero cross-hatching. Well at least my latest stuff is

Axl - I haven't been doing much pencil stuff lately. These were the days when I'd fly through a sketchbook in about a week or two weeks just drawing like crazy. But I'll try and get back to some straight pencil stuff.

Dives - It's just old stuff. Man if you wanna see bad I should post some stuff from Junior High. omg, my proportions aren't exactly stellar now but lord was I ever off in those days. Scary. And yeah it's Steak Dangit now I'm hungry.

cool...were these only for fun or did you use them for some sort of project? Some of these look like conceptional art and sketches for a comic series .

Gracias!

Most all of those were concept stuff for comic strips I never did get to work on. All except the first one. It was just messin' around.

at the road you were on with your pencils it looked like you could of been doing professial comic work by now if you kept up with them (assuming your sequentials were good) how come you didnt stay with it?

[Edit: Also, how old are you now/when you did those?]

heh thanks Kos and Anthony,

Capn - I was 21/22 when I did those and I plan on resubmitting here in the next few months. I'd love nothing more than to do comics for a living. I haven't forsaken line art altogether, I just wanted to expand my boundaries a bit after seeing what I've seen on this board. All of the digital paintings on here just wow me.

I've seen some submissions that current comic gods made which got them hired and they weren't 1/5 as good as they eventually became. I hope the same is true for someone like me.
