first post to the forum, although i've been reading it for over 6 months now... i think i have around 500 megs worth of saved images from the forum that i browse through on a weekly basis.
anyhow, this was the only piece that i had that i felt even *remotely* comfortable in posting, i didn't spend anytime cleaning up the sketch work, i figured i'd get some crits in first, before i changed it. ( although there will be so many that i'll end up redoing the whole thing ;P )
tear it apart

I think it's a great picture... nice touch to it by having the face dark. Can't really find any thing wrong with it except the scarf wrapping around his neck and under his arm looks a bit out of place to me..but hey it works. Anyway, Like to welcome you to the forum, and keep those pictures coming! |

( woo, i get to respond to crits, i always wanted to do that! )
Evil: thanks for the warm welcome! you're right about the scarf-thingy, i thought it needed something to sort of break the whole symmetry, probably could have done it a better way.
Bubonic: thanks for the comments. i did alot practice work on the folds, and unfortunately, they still aren't as realistic as i wanted them. i didn't notice till you mentioned it, but he does seem a bit.. 'short', almost as if he's midway between a stand and a kneel. hopefully i'll be coloring/adding to this picture, and a dark background is definetly planned! |

Geezz...I saw your name out the corner of mye eye and thought "when the hell did I post that"
I like it, its comeing along. A couple of things.
I think the cloth is to riggid in some arias. Its almost sharp. Maby thats me.
As far as character design, I ran into the same thing with a pic along time ago. He looked exacly like that. The problem with that is, it's been done allot. Now if you don't care as I didn't along time ago than what you got is good. If you are trying to make him an origanal unique character than you may want to work on him a bit.
As a pencil drawing ... he is looking good
Blitz....My guy also had a very stupid name...Wiz........I was young it's not my fault |

Don't hesitate to post some stuff of yours if you put effort into it. This one looks good. I don't have to add any crits, issues have already been addressed. This reminds me a lot of "Loom", anybody remember that adventure? There was beauty in 16 colors... |

Decent work. The first thing that comes to mind is the glaring difference between the computer-drawn lines (background) and the pencil lines. I suggest making the style consistent--maybe tracing over the pencil lines in photoshop to give it a cleaner look. Would also look nice colored...

I dare to question the colorsetting - imo the darkness in the head area needs a dark counterpart in the background or the clothing to bring balance to the whole comp...
nice drawing anyways |

Again, thanks for the replies.
The general consensus seems to be that it would look alot better after it's been tidied up and a background put in place, so I guess that'll be my next step!
Blitz, sorry about the confusion i actually used to use the name blitz alot, but after reading the forum and seeing it was taken, decided to use bitz.
hopefully i'll have a new updated picture by next week.
