Alright this is based on pure eye candy because there is no anime to date other then vampire hunter d which has a story that's worth a damn.

1 Vampire HUnter D

2 Brain Powerd

3: Princess Mononoke

4: MD GEIST

5: Ninga Scroll
to many others to name lots of good eye candy a lot of it is underground ..the stuff that kicks ass anyways.

Serial Experiments Lain is the most original and provocative anime series I have found. The character designer, Yoshitoshi ABe, is one of my inspirations.

COWBOY BEBOP-- jazzy, sci-fi, with great characters and story, very innovative storytelling, innovative in every way.

Vision of Escaflowne(japanese version only)--fantasy/scifi done right

Macross Plus--robotech lovers eat your heart out

Berserk-- excellent storytelling, awesome characters

Evangelion-- great characters, excellent twist on bring retro mecha back and making it cool

Kenshin OVAs/Ninja Scroll-- two different takes on the ninja/samurai eras, both done equally well, although I feel that Ninja Scroll has a harder edge to it.

All of these series come highly recommended, if you haven't seen them, I would highly suggest them to you as these series are my faves.

^_^

Vision of Escaflowne, Macross Plus (the movie), The Slayers, Final Fantasy )the movie) and..

Trigun.. "love and peace!"

God, he's fine. (remember girls, the best boys are on-screen!)

Valley of the Wind is good. The ubiquitous Akira. Mononoke, etc.

But no one has mentioned NINJA SCROLL. This is definately my favorite.

Heh, as a small kiddie in Northern Ireland I was luck to be raised on 'Battle of the Planets', a basterdised version of 'Science Ninja Team Gatchaman', AKA 'G-Force'

I've seen a lot since then, but that always brings a tear to my eye

Lssee... a lot of good stuff has ben mentioned already - Lain epscially was great, if quit confusing most of the time.

I recently saw some episodes of "Kodomo no omocha", or "child's toy", and it's totally whacked out. "'Marmelade Boy' on crack", as I've heard it described. But what can you expect from a series, whose first episode is titled "I'm an elementary school girl with a pimp"... (No, it's not porn...)
Another crazy series is "Kareshi kanojo no jijou", or "his and her circumstances".

-Evangelion

-Tetsujin (im old school)

-JoJos Bizzare (although only 3 are on OVA ; the manga has many more adventures and stand users and still continues today)

-Berserk was ok (minus the desperate money gay scenes)

-Spriggan and Akira (both masterpeices)

-Giant Robo

-Mazinger (more old schoolage here)

*and the rest are my secret hehe (thank you chinatown and your bootlegs)

Vote on our favorite things? Why vote? To see whose favorite things are closest to the average demograph of 'favorite things' and to give that person the right to cockpunch daily for being such an average artsy person or what? Or to select the ultimate super leader best ever thing? What purpose does that serve?
Voting about favorites is just going to end up in a big ball of eskimos flaming each other with snowballs and buckets full of pointy fishes. I've been there a few times and that's not a pretty sight I can tell you.

My current fave is one called "Blue Submarine No. 6". If you haven't seen it yet then you must check it out.
