Quickmask is 'q' in pshop. It converts your marquee/lasso areas into a colored 'red' area making it easier to view. It also allows you to edit it.

Oh.. cool.. never knew that. Hey I got a question for you too Liquid! (if your still reading) How do you get smooth curvy cuts when you do your colors? My hand shakes when I use the freehand lasso.. not the line one.

Francis: sorry if this is off topic

If I'm not mistaken... When your in the quickmask mode and you use your brush/airbrush tool you'll be able to basicly spray the laso area and when you switch back, the lasso will have formed from where you sprayed. Sorry for lack of technical terms...

I personally don't use paths. Everything 'smooth' is done per hand.

Wow glad you all liked it. The figure in this one is not one of my best, for sure, so all the comments about the face, legs, etc. are probably right. I do have a tendency to exaggerate certain features - I just have a thing for athletic blonde women, so maybe I go overboard once in a while.

As for the design of the mech, there's not a whole lot of design to it - the lid is meant to close down over the area where she is sitting, but I don't know if it really would or not.

Mainly I wanted to try a painting with a strong light direction, and also rely more on the line work as a crutch and see if I could get something resembling realistic lighting values. On that last band painting, I only finished the line work to a very sketchy degree, and tried to eliminate the line work from the final image. I think I overestimated my abilities on that one, trying to refine details, and resolve color and lighting at the same time.

Danny, I'd love to see a demonstration of what you're talking about, maybe on a tiny piece of the line art or something?

Hey is anyone working on their own version using the line art? I love seeing the different interpretations.

Thanks for your time and input.
