Do any of you guys use the Aiptek HyperPen 6000U graphics tablet ? I'm asking because I could get it (new) for $40 which is significantly less than the $100 for a Graphire or the $800 for an Intuos. Since I need a graphics tablet and don't have enough cash for a "real" tablet I think this might be a good opportunity.
So do any of you guys use it, what do you think of it, or could you point me towards some reviews.

thx alot,

I used to have an Aiptek pen myself and it was terrible for the whole 2-3 months or so that it worked. I would recommend saving up for an Intuos or a graphire unless you have $40 to burn. I was not impressed with the Aiptek in the slightest, it was terrible in photoshop and the only program it worked well in was a little rinky dinky thing that came with it that I loathed to work in

Hope that helps.

Guess I just saved myself $40
Thanks for the advice, I don't care spending more for a Wacom tablet, I just thought that if I can get the same quality for less, I could just as well do it. But after reading about your experiences with the Aiptek I'm sure I won't get that one.
Thanks a lot,

uhm.....is this posible? I mean..if that pen was JUST as good as wacom, dont you think we would be on it like a drunk to a bottel? If Windows Painter was just as good as Photoshop..why would we bother with photoshop? Sometimes the price/quality ratio is acurate....think about it.

right, but sometimes it is not. Just think about PC CPUs. An 800 MHz Intel Pentium III is far more expensive than an AMD Athlon with the same MHz rating, while the Athlon actually gives superior performance. Still, everyone buys Intel CPUs because they always bought Intel CPUs. So what I was thinking is that maybe the Aiptek might be kind of an underdog that is cheaper but gives equal performance. But, as Flexible Elf stated, that is not the case.

Yeah I don't think you'll be dissappointed with Wacom. I've tried both Aiptek and Wacom and the difference is night and day.
