well not really a caricature, i mean still realistic but not copied, like changing it to make it look different, say with ink or a certain style of hatching or somthing |

Is it considered art if you use a photo for say, a face, but not copy it to look like the photo, i mean say make it expressionistic or somthing (but keep the face with the same expression and tilt etc ... |

I think it might be your figure ground relationships. try making the background darker on the side of the figure where the light is coming from. Study some good paintings, like sargent. |

I don't really use actual "stick" figures, but I always keep in mind what the bones of the figure are doing. I usually start by doing a scribbly gesture drawing. This keeps my figures poses more fluid ... |
