The thing is: Intelligent creatures are , for the most people, only recognized as those , with more or less humanuid look..

(These where my thougs - perhaps its pure idiotique...)

I'd say: if you really want to apply for a level designers job, you should learn to use special Leveldesign tools. ( worldcraft is the most used...).
