on PCs (at least mine) #2, #5, #10, and #13 aren't responsive... so if you take away those 4 you will still get the same results...

sharp brushes, 25% opacity, no dodge and burn, larger starting canvas... and lots of free time and colour theory and you'll be on your way to better digital art... at least in my opinon...

and never offer payment as "exposure"... especially here, heh. But I agree, I don't see why you don't just photograph your idea, unless you want a cartoony look, or an edited photo.
