if you are just starting out with the digital medium forget all about color and concentrate on getting values right and to get form to your drawing. I would recommend doing this in just a b/w r ... |

well, you have a orange backlight, so you could use a blue lightsource outside the cave, as a really strong contrast. also blue would mean it is night keep on going |

I would seperate the creature from the background a little more.
for the arm, try to use some bouncelight from below, that might help establish form. also his left knee could get some b-light.
